 Classes Descriptions

  • Small Fry
3 - 4 years old - An introduction to music, rhythm and movement through ballet, tap and/or creative movement. 5 - 6 years old - A class that is similar to a regular jazz or ballet class and prepares the young dancer for the typical exercises that are required for the older dancer.

  • Ballet
Ballet is the foundation of all great dancers! This style of dance requires the most focus and discipline. It is normally taught to classical music.

  • Hip Hop
Hip Hop is a fast high energy type of dance. Hip Hop style is frequently seen in music videos and TV commercials. Students will focus on learning many fun upbeat combinations that increase their ability to learn quickly. Ballet and/or jazz techniques are not taught in this class.

  • Jazz
Jazz style of dance is seen in many Broadway type shows. It is a structured, stage style of dance.

  • Modern
Modern dance explores movement, space, rhythm and the dancer’s own creativity with emphasis on momentum, shapes and patterns. This form of dance is inspired by nature, music, art, and human emotions.

  • Lyrical
Lyrical  dance is a fusion of ballet and jazz dance techniques. Lyrical dance challenges choreographers and dancers to use motion to interpret music and express emotion. A lyrical dancer's movements illustrate the meaning of the music.

  • Musical Theater
Our musical theater program incorporates stage dance with Broadway style music. Facial expression and acting techniques are incorporated into musical theater.

  • Tap
Tap dance is popular in many parts of the world. The name comes from the tapping sound created when the small metal plates on the dancer's shoes touch a hard floor. This lively, rhythmic sound makes the performer not just a dancer, but also a percussive musician.

  • Contemporary
Contemporary dance is the name given to a group of 20th century concert dance forms. It is a collection of systems and methods that developed from modern and post-modern dance.

  • Competition Team
In order to achieve competitive goals in dance, one must possess passion. This passion, though it grows from within each dancer, can also be encouraged by peers who similarly inspired. Here at Dance Space we offer a comprehensive competitive program that strives to encourage the development, in a healthy and positive manner, of each team member's desire to perform.

There are hundreds of competitions throughout the United States. Our studio carefully selects the events that we feel will meet our organization's standards and also the needs of our students. These events provide our students an opportunity to perform, compete and grow in a positive and friendly atmosphere. Throughout the years, Dance Space has achieved remarkable success in the competitive arena. However, we do not attend competitions for the single purpose of "winning".

The Dance Space Competition Team also participates in local community and charity events. Recently the team has performed in the Relay for Life, the Fire Fighters Fair and the Healthy Start Coalition's "Dancing with the Vero Stars" fundraiser.
